A Touch of Class
History 1996 -1998
A Touch of Class started on Saturday 20 January 1996 when Leah shoved a Bass guitar into Christies arms and said you'll find this easier to play than the guitar, and with lots of practice they were soon ready to look for a drummer. Leah went through all her old address books and Lee was found, they all met in a pub opposite the Horn reborn in St. Albans and told him of the plan. Lee wasn't to sure as he was in a band with friends and said lets give it a go, thanks to some prodding in the ribs from Collette his girlfriend.
The first rehearsal was Sunday 19 May 1996 and it was first time for Christie to play Bass with a Drummer and also Leah as a Lead singer Guitarist fronting a band. It went well and Lee said at the end 'same time next week then'. Three months later on Saturday 3 August 1996 came the first gig at the Bull and Gate, as with first gigs the band felt nervous but that was soon overcome and the gig went well playing a thirty five minute set to a crowd of thirty. Three weeks later the band were to play a set to the Club V crowd upstairs at the Garage in Holloway.

Bikers gig at Ockam May 1999
November of that year saw the bands first recording of a demo tape - Heaven, Strange little girl, Die for you and Good time girl. recorded at Leahs studio, it was to help get the band more gigs.
As most gigs were played in London, Lee was becoming very frustrated with the traffic and turning up late and was losing interest, Lee disappeared a week before a gig at the Laurel Tree in Camden and was very quickly replaced by Louise Moyse from Dunstable who played three gigs with the band until she left due to pregnancy.
After advertising in numerous magazines for a drummer, Rob phoned. Leah answered the phone and said great, can you learn a whole set of forty minutes really quickly, 'cause we've got a gig coming up at the Cinebar, Rayners Lane on Sunday 21st December 1997 in Harrow with U2 tribute band U2our and Rob said GOOD LORD.
